I'm a white woman and have a lot of the same feelings you've described. I've been very sad to the point of tears to see what's happening. It's so deplorable.
I wanted to say this as well. I was riding the hope that Kamala would be elected too. My daughter kept telling me not to get my hopes up because she didn’t believe this country would elect a woman of color. I said, “Oh yes they will!” It’s devastating to me that he won and I’m sick about what he’s doing.
Please explain why any black person, especially a black woman would vote for him Don? It makes no sense to me. Every day it’s something new w this sad admin… not the USA I grew up in…
I agree. This current administration, regsrdleas of what poitical side a person us on, is running this country so poorly. I've never seen anything like this.
Same for me! There’s a Republican black woman running for governor of Virginia. She’s presently the lieutenant governor. How on earth can any one of color support these monsters? It’s mind boggling!
I think we hurt all of us who voted for her. I feel it deeply because she’s from my state. We know her well. She’s amazing. We have a monster or I should say, many monsters in this horrible time. It’s painful for everyone.
I feel your pain and sense of utter betrayal. Please know though, there is mounting evidence that the results of the last election are far from the reality of how this nation’s people voted. There is proof of Jim Crow style vote suppression across many states without the public knowledge which can be seen at Greg Palast Trump Lost Vote Suppression Won https://www.gregpalast.com/trump-lost-vote-suppression-won/ there is also mounting proof of electronic manipulation of the vote which can be found at Election Truth Alliance here on Substack or https://electiontruthalliance.org/2024-us-election-analysis
I’m so frustrated with people who speak like we ALL chose this. I honestly don’t even think most of this chose this…I truly believe there was voter fraud. But yet we are being blamed for the horrors of what is happening. Some of us tried and are still trying to fight against this.
I honestly stayed in bed 3 days after the election. I cried on and off those 3 days. Devastated isn’t even close to what I felt when Harris didn’t win. I was so sure that monster would never be back in the White House. I phone banked for the Harris campaign and I felt so hopeful. Now I wake up everyday to the shit show we now have to call our “new” America. I call, email and even fax my Reps but they’re all Republicans but I do it anyway. I support wherever I can whenever I can. I’m just hoping we can all stick together and find a way through this.
Take it easy until you are ready Charles. There are some of us out there working to get to a better place. I believe we can. At least we will keep on trying.
As a white woman, I want you to remember that we loved Obama...and if he was able to run again....he would win in a landslide. I believe people were too much against a WOMAN as president is why they did not elect Harris.
I am also a Canadian living down here in the south and get tired of listening to those that think this current Pres is doing for them...hell no.
Agree! To say that they would rather have a dictator than a black woman in charge is very devastating!
Not sure they would’ve voted for any woman.
Are you kidding me? A “black” woman? No a horrible person and a horrible candidate. Get off the race baiting bullshit! It old!
F-47! ( our answer to let’s go Brand**) pass it on !
How original. Ya dolt! Nasty woman!

Me too. WE the people.....every one!

He conned many people.
Yes he did but I just don’t get ppl of color, any woman or all those Hispanic ppl who supported him. Clearly he’s a racist at best. I’ll never get it…

Thanks for all

💯 all of this ! This is so astonishing that it’s almost unbelievable! It’s just sad ! 😔 I never thought I would see this in my lifetime.

There is no we here. Trump supporters are nazis and they are to blame along with the leadership of both parties.

Coming from a white woman I want to first say, I’m sorry. Your words broke my heart, you spoke so eloquently & honest !
It’s getting harder & harder to imagine the future for my grandchildren!😢

How are you loving Substack so far, Don?

This is such a transforming interview - it is most disheartening to hear the pain and feelings of betrayal by a fellow human being.
Although as a white woman I know there is no way I can come close to understanding the deep sadness evoked it was very painful to hear it.
The only hope is that we do not continue backpedaling and we listen and encourage equality. Every minute of every day.
Hi Don!!!
"They would rather burn it all down that share it." Yes!! And that realization was heartbreaking & exhausting for me. 😩
