There is such sadness in this world today. I. Guess there always has been ya sadness. Mankind is capable of so much but oftentimes does nothing to better humanity.

How can we be so cruel as to send people to other countries, to live in inhumane prisons knowing they have been convicted of no crime.

We would never have believed this could happen a year ago. My heart aches for America πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

the blueorigin tag line on Instagram -- is 'for the Benefit of Earth' -- certainly Jeff Bezos is not for the benefit of the USA -- only an irrelevant part of Earth, I guess. Yes, so sad to see the women & their PR for a man who is supporting those who are destroying the Democracy of the USA.

Bad form, I think, given what feels to me like a total disconnect from the reality of the devastation happening in this country, and Bezos' contribution to it. The optics are just bad, IMO.

Timing of this β€œperformance” was in very poor taste. Obviously they have no concept and grasp for what is happening here, or they are so out of touch. This wasn’t β€œone small step for man, one giant step for mankind”…..more like, a leap for those who live in a world that reality escapes them…. A world, their world…built on the back of regular Americans….online retailer who sells below market price goods stomping on local businesses, song writers selling to those who listen to their music as they wait in the unemployment lines, television talk show hosts broadcasting into the homes of those grasping for news of hope.

These women missed the message, missed the mark and fail to be a true beacon of light, hope and in these sad and scary times. Selling luxury travel in a time when people are being plucked off the streets for walking around in their daily lives.

While some celebrate the eleven-minute flight, others of us - the majority, no doubt - mourn the freedoms of women, in this instance, being eroded by the current administration. Yesterday yet another woman’s accomplishments in the realm of flight were removed from naval historical documents and this is a drop in the proverbial bucket. Our accomplishments alongside those of POC, are slowly being erased.

What would truly β€œbenefit Earth”? The realization that all are equal, that momentous accomplishments are recorded for posterity, that so many have given to our country selflessly.

I wish, if only I had the money, the opportunity to escape what has happened to the country, to the world for just a few minutes, to experience no gravity, to see a view of the world only a select few have witnessed. But, alas, I too feel your pain Mr. Lemon. Thank you. in

What a phenomenal writer you are, Don. You have the ability to touch hearts with your humanity, creativity, word crafting, and shared feelings with sentiment. I feel the same way...what good is it to take a rocket to nowhere when we can't even take care of our earth and our fellow human beings. Looking to the heavens and the stars is inspirational, but I cannot ignore my responsibility to the people and rubble we leave behind below. My measuring stick for collaborating with humanity is, "What would Jesus Do?" It sounds trite and glib in many ways, but I truly try to connect with how I SHOULD feel by setting a high bar. We are indisputably compromised, flawed and fallible, so I set my sights on a Higher Power that won't let me down. I do not ascribe to a party, who CAN let me down but rather try to choose ethically and morally. Van Jones expressed in a recent discussion with Malynda Hale on Substack: "It's because I have my moral clarity intact, the people I care about are, in my faith, what Jesus called the least of these...the addicted, the convicted, the afflicted, the evicted, the poorly depicted..." Aren't we all just a footstep away from falling into one of these categories? What do I STAND for? What do I STAND UP for? Who do I SPEAK for? I can't say it better than Dr. MLK, Jr., not a perfect man (like us!), but a man who stood up and spoke up for the "least of these": "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy". Where do we stand NOW? Ultimately, I am not the judge of everyone else, but I can ensure that I HOLD MYSELF accountable in these uncertain times. When I look in the mirror, I see myself and no one else. I see who I am, what I stand for, what I stand up for, and who I speak for? I ask everyone to decide: Whom do you see when you look in the mirror?

Right there with you. It wasn't about anything more than a "look at me" moment disguised as a symbol of women's power.

What I saw was a group of women with the kind of disposable income they have showing the world what money can buy you...a trip in a penis shaped rocket because they can.

The rest of us just want to afford to survive and have a little disposable income to save for retirement, an emergency, a trip once a year.

The wealthy elite could use their wealth in ways that really help people and still be incredibly wealthy. That's what I believe is the more humane choice vs the I'm bored, I have done everything I have wanted to do and have everything a person could ever want let's take a rocket ride choice.

Exactly, Maureen. When children are dying because USAID has been halted along with so many great agencies being guted that provide nourishment (meals on wheels). The oligarchs have all the opportunity in our world to erase so much suffering and this is their choice. πŸ’”
